Bootie-licious

I am absolutely craving approximately 50 pairs of new boots for the fall/winter (although, I'm a boots year round kind of gal). I think to celebrate my new job these booties from Anthropologie (of course) may just be my first purchase.

New Job = New Supplies

One strong aspect of Blogging that drew me to join this world in the first place was specifically the design blog niche (in all of its forms). I feel like I have found a community who understands the beauty of a fabulous new notebook. A community of those who also may have spent the month leading up to school playing "backpack" where one pulls out and lines up all of the gorgeous untouched notebooks and erasers and even, sharpened pencils and then places them perfectly back into the clean, crisp, new bag... New desk, new office = new supplies = Ooh la la! I'll be looking to the lovely tastes of {b.w.y}, oh h d, d*s, and s l for some new supplies excitement and beauty... do share any good finds!

hope all is well.

Get Big Shoulders and Get Noticed!

Pull out your shoulder pads and power dress suit 'cause this woman is back to work!

Monday I start a new full-time job. I'm really excited to start feeling more connected and having my own income but it's going to be hard to leave Cash all day. I feel like I have a small taste for what mothers go through when their baby has to go to a sitter, or the little ones go to pre-school/kindergarten. We're looking into daycare at least a few days a week but 5 days a week is unaffordable. We have a crate, but I still feel like he's too young to be kenneled all day ... What are yall doing with your pups during the day?

Wish me luck!

Overton Park

Overton Park is a large, 342-acre public park in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee. The park grounds contain the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis Zoo, a 9-hole golf course, Memphis College of Art, Rainbow Lake, Veterans Plaza, Greensward, and other features. The Old Forest Arboretum of Overton Park, one of the oldest-growth forests in Tennessee, is a natural arboretum with labeled trees. --Wikipedia

Cash's favorite place to play is Overton Park. Luckily for me, it's not more than a 7-10 minute drive from home and the park is flexible as far as off-leash areas for dogs. Around 5:30PM the after work crew shows up in the big field--a dog's paradise. Lately, if it's not raining, there is anywhere from 15-30 dogs running and playing together. It's been so helpful for Cash's training, burning off energy, and becoming socialized with children and other pups. As I'm still a professional stay-at-home girlfriend, we frequent the park nearly 5 days a week.

Cashie's new favorite favorite *favorite* toy is ball. Any ball will do--so long as it bounces.

This is Putter. Putter, Cash, and Jackson (not pictured) are a 3 man crew. They love to run and wrestle with each other and gang up on small dogs. Despite Putter's size he can hang with the bigger guys.

This is Panda. Panda is a St. Bernard puppy. Panda is currently growing at a rate of 1/2lb. every. single. day.

BFF's for life.

Cash has "muffin top," only, his muffin top is much cuter than mine.

Tut tut... looks like rain...

Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys

Saturday Date: Willie Nelson Concert.

yes'm. indeed (I told you it was noteworthy). Saturday, Darling and I took off toward the Mississippi River to the Mud Island Ampitheatre for an outdoor Willie Nelson show. My apologies: I'm not much of a photographer at shows... I'd rather enjoy the music...

Old Crow Medicine Show was a great opener with the funky, bluegrassy goodness they do so well.

It has been storming in Memphis for days and days. We lucked out this evening as we felt the cool river breeze but avoided all of the wet *sogginess that has persisted every day otherwise.

Thai Food/Wine + Great Music + Nice Weather + Walking Downtown and Sharing a Pizza Slice + Puppy Waiting Patiently at Home = A Lovely Evening.

*Sogginess is a word, my spell-check is telling me it is spelled correctly.

kindergarten in the morning. a spectacular date later that evening. a free concert at the shell sunday.

To-Do

I love crossing off the items on my to-do list almost as much as I love making the actual list. But seriously, today I got to pull out the magnum sharpie and strike a big, fat line across "Register Car" which has been in the process of becoming an actuality for about a month and I now have one of these:

I have spent over 7 hours in line waiting to get plates and tags and a driver's license. I am still without a Tennessee license. Apparently, Tennessee is known for being difficult in the aforementioned areas; on top of that, Shelby County finds it necessary to add a few extra items and restrictions to keep things spicy; and on top of that, City of Memphis residents have just a few more extras--like sprinkles-- tagged onto that same to-do list. I have officially given up on the DL. Because I am not able to pass the vision test, I must always have a letter from my eye Dr. stating that it is still okay to let me drive, however, I am not allowed to have my eye Dr. in Utah fill it out, I have to see a specialist in Tennessee... this is problematic. I am still a professional stay-at-home girlfriend without health insurance (can you believe I don't get medical benefits?!) and therefore am unable to see and/or pay for a specialist. For now, I have decided I'm completely content with it.

Other Areas of Interest:

Job interview tomorrow--keep crossing those fingers for me.

Cash is adorable, lovable, social, and a little shit all in the same breath. We love each other.

Last note: remember that fun weekend date?? Well, it's actually this weekend--and it's going to be spectacular.

Handsome

I'm sorry if I never post a picture of anything but close ups of his face all smashed, I am still completely, hopelessly smitten with his wrinkles.

Cash--maybe like Cash Money, or Eli Cash; Definitely like Johnny Cash. This handsome boy (!!) is keeping me *so* busy. Laurel left me a comment that said "welcome to motherhood" and I thought it was funny, I now realize that she was just being sincere. We go on walks, run in the yard, go to the park, and generally have a great time. I would be lying if I didn't say he's an incredible responsibility and I have a new respect for parents who tell their children that they can't have a dog in the house...

Job interviews, car registration, driver's license... it's all still taking time to truly get settled and set. Darling and I, however, are going on a particularly noteworthy date this weekend. Puppies not allowed. More on that to come. Have a lovely weekend.
